NORMAN, OKLA. –Source 1 ( www.source1parts.com/ ), the aftermarket arm of the Johnson Controls residential heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) brands, is pleased to offer four additional premium indoor air quality (IAQ) products – the hybrid electronic air cleaner, the deluxe media air cleaner, whole home humidifiers and UVC germicidal single & dual lights. All of these products are available under the York, Coleman and Luxaire brands of Johnson Controls.

The deluxe media air cleaner from Source 1 provides a true MERV 10 rating through the entire life of the media element. Because of its high cleaning efficiency, it removes 97 percent of pollen-sized particles, helping to reduce the risk of asthma and allergy attacks. It also removes 70 percent of all mold and spore-sized particles, helping to reduce problems with mold-induced illnesses. This product has the lowest leakage and bypass air in the industry, and it is easy to maintain with a one- to two-year service life.

The hybrid electronic air cleaner from Source 1, the most efficient whole house air cleaner on the market today, offers ultra-high efficiency equivalent to MERV 16. It has all of the benefits of a media air cleaner, but it also works in conjunction with an electronic section. The hybrid electronic air cleaner is never less than 94 percent efficient at trapping particles as small as 0.35 micron in size. A study conducted by an independent laboratory consistently places the hybrid electronic air cleaner unit from the Unitary Products division of Johnson Controls ahead of its competition in terms of removal efficiency when compared at two months, six months and 10 months of operation. The study also reveals that the air cleaner offers maximum filtration performance with consistently less airflow resistance than competitors’ models and the longest service life of those that were tested. The unit is rated to 2000 cfm, with measured resistance of 0.14” w.g. at 1200 cfm and 0.29” w.g. at 2000 cfm, the lowest airflow resistance in its class.

Source 1 has added three humidifiers to its line – small and large bypass humidifiers and a high-capacity, fan-powered humidifier – for virtually any home with a forced air system.

They humidify the entire home, not just one area as is typical of less efficient portable units. With the whole home humidifiers, air is drawn through the water panel quietly and efficiently, turning water into water vapor that humidifies the home. Through the combination of the solenoid valve and water distribution system, homeowners will benefit from the optimum distribution of moisture throughout the home. And, homeowners also have two humidity control options – there is a manual humidifier control and an automatic humidifier control – which provide precise amounts of humidity to the home. The outside casting and interior components of all premium humidifiers are made from durable UV resistant plastic that resists deterioration and are color matched to the furnace and the air handler.

The UVC germicidal single & dual lights from Source 1, installed inside HVAC systems, eliminate foul odors and enhance indoor air quality by reducing the amount of fungi, bacteria and other pollutants that could grow on the evaporator coil. Many commercially available UVC lights are designed for optimal performance at room temperature and allow significant power reduction at lower temperature. However, lights of this type are not suitable for the damp, cool, moving airstream environment found in HVAC systems. To eliminate contaminants in HVAC systems, the UVC light must be able to provide maximum dosage of UVC energy at 45 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit in a rapidly moving airstream, which is exactly what the UVC high output, low temperature duty germicidal light from the Unitary Products division of Johnson Controls is designed to do. The 115-volt dual UVC germicidal kit is currently available for shipment from Source 1. The single 115-volt and the 208/230-volt UVC germicidal kits, as well as the dual 208/230-volt UVC germicidal kit, will be available for shipment starting in November.
